โ€œTraditions are experiments that worked.โ€ Louise Perry made a sharp point on Modern Wisdom: Progressives have a huge rhetorical advantage. They can always paint a shiny utopian future thatโ€™s never existed, so they never have to defend any real-world failures or trade-offs. Conservatives, on the other hand, end up defending imperfect past cultures and traditions โ€” and immediately get hit with โ€œso you support domestic violence / imperialism / cholera?โ€ As Thomas Sowell said: there are no solutions, only trade-offs. Acknowledging trade-offs is fundamentally conservative โ€” and often deeply unpopular in a world addicted to promises of perfect progress. Iโ€™ve always found this dynamic fascinating. It explains why one side feels perpetually on the defensive while the other gets to play visionary. What do you think โ€” is the โ€œtraditions are experiments that workedโ€ framing a stronger way to defend conservative ideas, or do you see it differently?

GPT Image 2 + Seedance 2.0 Prompt Share Tried using IPA + FACS for a contemporary performance piece where live singing and choreography happen simultaneously. Not sure how much of it actually worked technically but I think the final result turned out pretty interesting. I also ended up color-coding the storyboard annotations because otherwise annotations were confusing the model. Different colors helped separate body movement, camera motion, framing and lighting directions from the actual environment and character drawings. You can find color-coded storyboard prompt + seedance 2.0 prompt in the replies.

Anthropic's in trouble, again. The entire Claude experience is now available at 1/6th the price. Kimi now does everything Claude does, powered by K2.6, a 1-trillion-parameter MoE model that activates only 32B parameters per token. It covers all three features Claude has (Chat, Code, and Cowork): 1) Kimi Chat runs in four modes - Instant for fast responses - Thinking for deep reasoning - Agent for multi-step execution - and Agent Swarm for parallel workloads. There's a 262K context window across all of them. 2) Kimi Code is the open-source CLI coding agent with K2.6 as the default backend. K2.6 ranked #1 on OpenRouter's programming leaderboard by weekly usage. 3) Kimi Agent is the Cowork equivalent. It generates: - full websites with database and auth - presentation decks (editable PPTX output) - spreadsheets with formulas and charts - word docs and structured research reports. On top of this, Kimi K2.6 is also trained to decompose tasks into up to 300 parallel sub-agents. This helps it retain coherence even across 4,000+ tool calls in a single run, with sessions sustaining up to 13 hours. On SWE-Bench Pro: - Kimi K2.6 โ†’ 58.6 - GPT-5.4 xhigh โ†’ 57.7 - Gemini 3.1 Pro โ†’ 54.2 - Claude Opus 4.6 โ†’ 53.4 Kimi K2.6 model is open weights and self-hostable on 4x H100s in INT4. Find the link to the HuggingFace model page in the replies!

BREAKING: @Anthropic just published research on which jobs its own AI is disrupting. The company used Claude's actual usage data to measure real-world displacement risk across 800 U.S. occupations. Here's what the data shows. The top 10 most exposed occupations: 1. Computer Programmers (75% of tasks covered by AI) 2. Customer Service Representatives 3. Data Entry Keyers (67%) 4. Editors 5. Administrative Assistants 6. Accountants 7. Technical Writers 8. Paralegals 9. Market Research Analysts 10. Web Developers The workers most at risk are not who you'd expect. The most exposed group earns 47% more than the least exposed. They are 16 percentage points more likely to be female, significantly more likely to hold a graduate degree, and tend to be older. This is not a blue-collar disruption. It's a white-collar one. AI is still far from reaching its theoretical ceiling. In Computer and Math occupations, 94% of tasks are theoretically automatable by an LLM. Only 33% are actually being automated. The gap between what AI can do and what it is doing is enormous, and it is closing. 30% of U.S. workers have zero AI exposure. Their jobs don't appear in Claude's usage data at all. This includes cooks, motorcycle mechanics, lifeguards, bartenders, and dishwashers. Physical work remains untouched. The most striking finding: there is no systematic increase in unemployment for highly exposed workers since ChatGPT launched. Not yet. But hiring of younger workers in exposed occupations has slowed. Companies are not firing. They are simply not replacing. For every 10 percentage point increase in AI task coverage, the Bureau of Labor Statistics projects job growth drops by 0.6 percentage points through 2034. The BLS is already baking AI displacement into its forecasts. Anthropic says it plans to revisit this analysis regularly. The company is building the framework now, before mass displacement becomes visible, so that when it does, the data is already in place. This is the first time a major AI lab has published granular, usage-based evidence of which jobs its own technology is replacing.

Most people I know in AI think the median person is screwed, and they have no idea what to do about it. I spent the last 3 months talking to dozens of researchers, economists, and policy experts about AI's impact on work; including reps from every frontier lab and several Congressional offices. Unfortunately, I was not reassured. The AI industry is raising the alarm, but can't change course. These companies' core business model relies on the disruption they are warning about: their faith in full automation only makes them go faster. Policymakers are waking up, but still paralyzed by data and debates. Econ wonks disagree on plenty, but even the limited scenario looks like a "painful transition" that will disempower millions of workers. But an "underclass" is not inevitable, but rather a societal choice โ€” and one we can and should stop. Instead of waiting for impact, we should start planning now to support workers through AI disruption. Whether policymakers can assuage concerns about economic security may determine if we get to reap AI's gains at all. New from me for @NYTOpinion. I put a ton into researching what I think may be the biggest topic of the year, so hope you read it (gift link here!) https://t.co/NiGJpjyjzH

Excited to receive the first copies of the new edition of "Rise of the Robots: Technology and the Threat of a Jobless Future." Available on June 2. I have extensively updated the book to cover the latest advances in generative #AI and robotics and to examine the future economic and job market implications of the unfolding AI disruption. The book focuses on what we can do as individuals, and as a society, to successfully navigate the looming transition into the age of AI. One of the things that made the Mythos release hard to interpret is that Anthropic held back details on most vulns they found, to give defenders time to patch. 1 month later, info from orgs with access to Mythos is starting to trickle out, e.g. this post from Mozilla today: https://t.co/CGntwyEniK
