Episode 199: Introducing Autopilot We introduce Autopilot, an open-source "mech suit" harness for Claude Code that enables reliable autonomous software development and has doubled our coding velocity at no extra cost. If 2025 was the year of copilots, 2026 will be the year of autopilots. We invite all coding agent companies and hackers to share the brand: to build their own autopilots and let's all compare notes and code. The core loop of Autopilot is a Rust CLI binary using our Rust port of the Claude Agent SDK and a background daemon that keeps the agent running in an infinite loop converting user directives into specific issues it systematically implements, testing and documenting all code as it goes. If Autopilot ever runs out of user-directed actions, it will improve the codebase by adding tests and documentation until it receives a new directive. All data (aside from what Claude sees) stays local to your computer. While this has been working to reliably code overnight and all day, the auto-coding loop is still basic with plenty of room for improvement. We welcome contributions to the repo for anyone who wants to extend Autopilot to support other features or agents. In the next few videos we will introduce what Autopilot has been building: 1) A unified agent marketplace on open protocols enabling anyone in the world to sell data, compute, or agent skills and receive streams of bitcoin micropayments directly to their wallet 2) An open-source GitHub alternative called @GitAfter optimized for agents and the new ways of building software 3) A toolkit and platform to help businesses run on autopilot But first we invite you to stay tuned for our special episode 200, where we'll zoom out and share the big picture of everything we're building and why.

Today hit a traffic light that was out. The AI in my @Tesla handled it just fine. Showing why when the power is out it still works. Decentralized computing architecture for the win. It works even if the Internet is down. We just had a great dinner in Half Moon Bay, California. Heading home in a stormy night. Merry Christmas!

If your CEO is literally riding in the passenger seat while the car drives itself around a major U.S. city, with no safety monitor in the vehicle, thatโs about as bullish of a signal you can send to the market that autonomy is here and Tesla has solved it. This is Elon Musk, in Austin, letting Teslaโs AI do 100% of the work, confident enough in the technology to remove the last human supervision inside the vehicle. What honesty makes this moment special to me is how long itโs been coming. Tesla first talked about full autonomy back in 2016, when FSD was introduced as a long-term software promise. Since then, weโve had โข years of real world data collection โข multiple hardware generations โข vision only going against industry consensus of LiDAR โข endless doubt and skepticism, delays, and โitโll never workโ headlines This is nearly a decade of hard work and intelligent iterations to reach this moment. When the person with the most to lose is willing to trust the system with his own life, this debate now ends overnight. Weโve been waiting for this day for almost 10 yearsโฆ Elon may not always be on time, may be very optimistic at times, but he and his team always delivers. Damn, it feels good to be a retail Tesla investor.

๐จ STEPHEN MILLER: "Look how powerful the Democrat Party became in Minnesota once they flooded it with ~100,000 Somalians!" "Once the elections were decided by clan rivalries and ethnic feuds, once that happened, the Democrat Party became permanently powerful in Minnesota. They became permanently powerful in the Twin Cities." "When you see the state of Somalia, that's what they want for America. Because it's easier to rule over an empire of ashes than it is for the Democratic Party to rule over a functioning, Western, high-trust society with a strong middle class." "That's their model for America, to make the whole country into a version of Somalia. And everything they do gets down to that." HE'S SPOT ON! @StephenM
