Ever had someone say: “I’m 5 minutes away” ⏳😅 …but they haven’t even put their shoes on yet? 👟💀 I used to take that personally. Like… disrespect. Like… lies. 😤 Then I learned what neuroscientists actually point to 🧠✨ Our ability to plan, estimate time, and simulate what happens next relies heavily on the prefrontal cortex (the brain’s executive system) ✅🧩 And imagining the future isn’t just “motivation”… it’s a real brain process involving networks that include the prefrontal cortex and memory systems like the hippocampus 🎬🧠 When that future-simulation / planning system is weaker (or just overloaded by stress, distraction, sleep deprivation, ADHD-style executive function issues, etc.) the brain can become super “NOW-focused” 📱⚡️ So “5 minutes” can mean: “I feel close to leaving” 🌀😭 not “I have calculated the real timeline.” This doesn’t mean anything goes. Boundaries still matter ✅🧱 But it changes the solution from yelling ➝ to making time concrete: 👟 “Text me when your shoes are on.” 🔑 “Text me when you have your keys.” 🚗 “Text me when you’re in the car.” 📍 “Then send your real ETA.” Less rage. More clarity. More peace. 😮💨✨ Sometimes it’s not attitude… it’s executive wiring. 🧩💛 Video Credit: insta codex_mind1
