Banks’ Culture series, I would read them all to understand the future.\n\nBut start here:\n\nConsider Phlebas: an epic space opera showing the Culture at war, full of pirates, megastructures, and a glimpse of what true abundance looks like (even if seen through an enemy’s eyes).\n\nThis is the future we’re building and will arrive at.",
