"text": "I'm Italian. Everyone asks me about moving to Italy.\n\nHere's the truth: Italy isn't for everyone. But for four specific profiles, it can be one of the best moves in Europe.\n\nI left when it was written off as a sinking ship. The difference today isn't that things got easier, it's the arbitrage. Italy created tax frameworks for global earners who want Mediterranean living.\n\nRemote professionals: earn abroad, live well, pay ~10–12% income tax with the \"impatriati\" regime. Add ~20% social security, sure, but the lifestyle is great if that's what you want. Five years.\n\nRetirees: 7% flat tax on all foreign income (capital gains and dividends included) for 10 years if you settle in smaller Southern or certain central towns. Not at all an exile, often some of the most beautiful places in the country.\n\nResearchers: up to 90% tax exemption for 13 years. One of Europe's most generous regimes, and almost nobody talks about it.\n\nHigh net worth individuals: either €200K/y flat tax for 15 years (soon €300K) for the ultimate lifestyle, or Italian access with no relocation via a €250K investor visa.\n\nPractical tip: smaller centers close to larger ones work best. Expect you won't find any expat bubble to live in. You'll need to learn Italian, pretty much everywhere.\n\nOn the negatives: you may end up radicalized against two things. Italian bureaucracy. And French cuisine (eventually).",
