A terminal. And a problem to solve.\n\nHe built a language that fit in kilobytes.\n\n50 years later, it runs everything.\n\nLinux kernel. Windows. macOS.\n\nEvery iPhone. Every Android.\n\nNASA’s deep space probes.\n\nThe International Space Station.\n\n> Python borrowed from it.\n> Java borrowed from it.\n> JavaScript borrowed from it.\n\nIf you have ever written a single line of code in any language, you did it in Dennis Ritchie’s shadow.\n\nHe died in 2011. \nThe same week as Steve Jobs.\nJobs got the front pages.\nRitchie got silence.\n\nThis Legend deserves to be celebrated.",
